Entering Retirement
- available retired sires & dams
At Dobermans of Eastern NC, we believe every dog deserves a life of purpose, love, and individual attention. Our males and females are thoughtfully retired from breeding once they have responsibly fulfilled their role within our program. We intentionally limit breedings to protect long-term health, preserve genetic integrity, and honor the well-being of each dog entrusted to us.
Retirement allows these dogs to transition from our program into carefully chosen homes where they can enjoy a quieter season of life—as cherished family companions. This decision reflects our commitment to ethical breeding, lifelong responsibility, and stewarding each dog with care, intention, and gratitude.
“The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” — Proverbs 12:10

Apollo (Canelo) Bello
We are seeking a carefully selected pet home for our retired male, Apollo.

Apollo is a 6-year-old Doberman, born in 2020, who has completed his role in our breeding program.
He comes from a beautiful bloodline and was responsibly retired as part of our ongoing commitment to ethical breeding and genetic planning.
Apollo’s early life was not an easy one. He experienced significant neglect prior to coming into our care, which has shaped both his sensitivities and his deep appreciation for human connection. Because of this, Apollo is an exceptionally affectionate, people-oriented dog who thrives when he is included as a true family companion.
What Apollo needs in a home:
-
A calm, stable household
-
Someone who is home often or understands separation anxiety
-
A home without small animals
-
Larger dogs are fine — he does well with big dogs
-
Patience, consistency, and kindness
What to know about Apollo:
-
Crate trained
-
Limited basic obedience due to early neglect
-
Can counter-surf if food is left unattended
-
Does not do well being left alone for long periods
-
Needs a home that values companionship over perfection
What you’ll love about Apollo:
-
Exceptionally sweet and gentle temperament
-
A true Velcro Doberman — loves to snuggle on the couch or bed
-
Loyal, loving, and deeply bonded to his people
-
Deserves a life of comfort, stability, and being spoiled
Apollo is not being placed due to behavioral aggression or health issues. He is being retired so he can finally enjoy a full in-home life with undivided attention, couch cushions, and the love he missed early on.
This placement will be extremely selective. Our priority is finding the right match, not just any home.
If you feel you may be a good fit for Apollo, please reach out via private message or email with information about your household, schedule, and experience with the breed.
Apollo’s adoption placement fee is $1000.
This fee is not reflective of Apollo’s value, which is immeasurable, but rather helps ensure a serious and committed placement. It also offsets a portion of the extensive veterinary care, health testing, daily care, and lifelong responsibility that has gone into him. This fee allows us to continue responsible retirements and rescue-based placements while prioritizing what matters most — the right home, not speed of placement.
Neuter Requirement
Apollo will be placed as a pet-only companion and will be neutered prior to placement. This requirement is in place to protect Apollo’s well-being, prevent unintended breeding, and ensure he enjoys this next chapter of life free from breeding expectations.
